Not since Madonna, has an artist of this caliber given the Ballroom Scene such a platform to display their talents (and antics) to such a wide audience. With the much anticipated release of her new EP “1991” set for just four days before the ball, it wouldn’t shock me if footage from the ball were to end up as a music video. Designed by architectual impresarios Tod Williams & Billie Tsien, the 93,000 square foot building is the first major addition to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in more than 60 years and the FABULOUS new home of the Barnes Collection. Conceptualized as a “Gallery in a Garden, Garden in a Gallery”, the design captures the spirit of the original Barnes facility in Merion and the founder’s conception of a visual interplay between art & nature offering the feel of a Parisian-style public park.
